PRIME DAY
Amazon officially launched Prime membership services in 2005. In 2015, it held its inaugural Prime Day event which was a runaway success. Now, Prime Day is a major shopping event for Prime members around the world. It is also one of the most important regular sales events on Amazon. The volume of orders on Prime Day in 2016 was a 60% growth over that in 2015. It was a record for single-day sales volume on Amazon. In 2018, Sellers on Amazon globally raked in orders in excess of $1.5 billion on Prime Day, with some Sellers seeing their sales volume increase by 75 times their normal daily sales volume! Worldwide sales on 2019 Prime Day were better than those on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2018 added together, while global sales for Amazon’s third-party Sellers on that day were more than $2 billion! Note: The Prime Day event each year differs according to the Store’s location. Please refer to the Amazon announcement on the event.
BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY
Every year, the months of November and December are when festive holidays such as Christmas and New Year’s Day are concentrated. During this time, consumers’ shopping needs tend to increase. For this reason, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become shopping extravaganza for shoppers worldwide. Amazon also holds major discount events at all Stores during this time. Black Friday is typically on the last Friday of November, and the first Monday after that is Cyber Monday. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest sales events in the year, often seeing significant increase in the sale of products in every category. The most apparent is the sale of electronic products. During Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2019, several hundred million units of products were sold globally, with those in the fashion category setting a new record. Sales of cosmetics and personal care products also grew by more than 4 million units compared to the previous year. Indeed, the overall sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday set a new record for single-day orders. It is no wonder that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are thought to be the most popular shopping festivals globally, having displayed astounding sales performance. We would therefore suggest that you capitalize on Black Friday and Cyber Monday as an annual sales peak season and achieve a better conversion rate. Note: The event rules for Black Friday and Cyber Monday vary from year to year, in particular those pertaining to restrictions of use of promotional tools, submission time and participation conditions. EUROPE HIDDEN GEMS
Hidden Gems is a large-scale deal event launched by Amazon for Europe Stores. It is aimed at helping consumers discover quality products from small and medium enterprises, startups and individual Sellers, with recommendations of products that consumers do not purposely set out to search or have not thought about. It therefore gives such products (or brands) exposure to consumers. Amazon typically launches Hidden Gems at the beginning of the fourth quarter each year.
Hidden Gems is a brand-new event launched for the first time in 2019, serving as warm-up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Through it, Sellers can accumulate product traffic and brand awareness. During the event, Amazon will recommend quality products from emerging enterprises, giving their brand simultaneous exposure in five major Stores in Europe and allowing them to rapidly acquire brand reputation. In 2019, Hidden Gems had not only helped many well-known brands achieve more than 5 times growth of their daily average traffic, but had also enabled many new Sellers to achieve 150 times of sales growth compared to the daily average volume. With advance exposure of their products during Hidden Gems, Sellers were able to achieve a growth rate of nearly 320% for sales during the subsequent Black Friday and Cyber Monday events.
Other than such spectacular growth, Sellers who joined Hidden Gems also received support from Amazon in the form of marketing resources. They include: – Opportunity to display their products on Amazon home page – – Opportunity to display their products on key positions in “Today’s Deals” page – – Opportunity for pushed message in Amazon mails and promotional information Note: The rules for Hidden Gems can change from year to year.
